Dr. Alex Demurie is orthopedisch chirurg met een bijzondere bekwaming in de knie- en heupchirurgie. Dr. Demurie studeerde Geneeskunde aan de Universiteit Gent en behaalde zijn diploma in 1997. Na zijn specialisatie in de orthopedie in het AZ Jan Palfijn Gent, het AZ Sint-Jan Brugge en het UZ Gent, bekwaamde hij zich verder in de heup- en kniechirurgie, waarbij fellowships werden gevolgd in Frankrijk (Parijs, Lyon, Marseille en Bordeaux) en het Verenigd Koninkrijk (Stanmore, Oxford, Oswestry en Birmingham).

Dr. Demurie is voltijds staflid als knie- en heupspecialist binnen de dienst Orthopedie in AZ Alma te Eeklo. Voorheen was hij tevens werkzaam als staflid in het Militair Hospitaal te Brussel (2004-2010) en nam hij deel aan missies in Libanon en Sarajevo.

Dr. Demurie is (co-)auteur van meerdere wetenschappelijke publicaties en is lid van tal van wetenschappelijke verenigingen (o.a. BVOT, BKS, BHS en ESSKA), lid van de LaZi-RuSh kniegroep en consulent voor meerdere orthopedische firma's.
